রাজনীতির দীর্ঘ পথপরিক্রমায় ক্ষমতা একটা স্টপওভার বা যাত্রাবিরতি মাত্র, কোনোভাবেই গন্তব্য নয়। ক্ষমতার বাইরের রাজনীতিই মানুষের অধিকারের রাজনীতি। একজন রাজনীতিকের আদর্শ লড়াই মানুষের স্বার্থের লড়াই, মানুষের স্বার্থ রক্ষার লড়াই।

রাজনৈতিক নেতৃত্বকে এটি মাথায় রাখতে হবে যে অতীত ও বর্তমান শাসকদের একের পর এক অপরিণামদর্শী সিদ্ধান্তের ফলেই গোটা বাংলাদেশ রাষ্ট্রের মধ্যে আরেকটি সমান্তরাল রাষ্ট্র তৈরি হয়েছে। সমসাময়িক রাজনীতি বিজ্ঞানে একে “deep state” নামে অভিহিত করা হয়। এ ধরনের রাষ্ট্রে পর্দার অন্তরালেও একগুচ্ছ রাজনৈতিক ও প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক শক্তি সক্রিয় থাকে যারা সবকিছুর ঊর্ধ্বে। পাকিস্তান, ইরান ও মিশর এ ধরনের রাষ্ট্রের উদাহরণ যেখানে রাষ্ট্র ব্যবস্থার পূর্ণাঙ্গ সামরিকীকরণের ফলে দৃশ্যমান সরকারের চেয়েও অন্তরালের শক্তিশালী ক্রীড়নকের অস্তিত্ব বিদ্যমান। বাংলাদেশেও ধীরে ধীরে সে ধরনের বাস্তবতা তৈরি হচ্ছে।
সমাজ-রাষ্ট্রে পরিবর্তন কখন ঘটবে, কেন ও কিভাবে ঘটবে
একজন ব্যক্তি নিজের বাস্তবতা, অবস্থান পরিবর্তন করতে তার জীবনের অর্ধেকেরও বেশি সময় ব্যয় করে ফেলে। একটি নির্দিষ্ট সমাজের একগুচ্ছ মূল্যবোধ পরিবর্তন এরূপ শত, হাজারো ব্যক্তির শিক্ষা, অভ্যাস, আচরণ পরিবর্তনের বিষয়। সেজন্যই একটা সমাজ ব্যবস্থা কখনো এক, দুই বা দশ বছরে পরিবর্তিত হয় না। প্রজন্ম থেকে প্রজন্ম চলে যায়। একটা রাষ্ট্রের সামগ্রিক পরিবর্তন এরূপ শত-সহস্র সমাজের ক্ষুদ্র-ক্ষুদ্র পরিবর্তনের সমষ্টি। ক্ষমতার পট-পরিবর্তন ভিন্ন বিষয়, ব্লিপ বা সাময়িক একটি বিষয়। কিন্তু একটি রাষ্ট্রের রাজনীতি, সামাজিক মূল্যবোধ যেখানে একটি সত্যিকারের কল্যাণমূখী, গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্রের ধারণা মানুষের অন্তর্জগতে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়, যেখানে সামাজিক ন্যায়বিচারের ধারণা, সম-অধিকারের ধারণা, সহিষ্ণুতার পাঠ ব্যক্তি-পরিবারের নর্ম হিসেবে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়, সে লড়াই দীর্ঘ।
