The speech of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at Heritage Foundation on 21 May 2018 reminds us the blatant admission of General Wesley Clark that IRAN is the final target of the US Middle East war game. Mike Pompeo’s speech sounds like a prologue to another devastating Middle East war. His seemingly aggressive tone indicted his administration’s willingness and enthusiasm to bring down Iranian regime.
A war with Iran, as many pundits and war experts have cautioned in the past could prove counterproductive and may end US presence in the Middle East for they won’t be able to withstand the sheer scale of guerrilla warfare across the region. Middle East has already experienced enough deaths and destruction and many analysts put the blame on the US for creating enabling conditions for such chaos. One can barely fathom what objectives the US achieved by unleashing fire and fury on Iraq and Libya except millions deaths and destroying two oil-rich nations. If the US succumbs to its war lobby’s pressure to attack Iran, it will change the Middle East we know forever. There will be no winner but devastation, and the fall of every major powers in the Middle East except Turkey [if they chose to remain neutral].
The people most affected in any such war scenario are American and Iranian people. After more than 2-Trillion-Dollar-war in Iraq, the American people will again be robbed by the vicious war lobby. The impact will be far greater this time as the ensuing war may lead to near bankruptcy of great American wealth. While one nation will face bankruptcy, another nation Iran will simply face annihilation as they wouldn’t survive the sheer onslaught and the wreath of the Titan.
Iranian regime will rather chose to spread the war to entire Middle East through myriad of proxies they created and nurtured over time, target any moving American target, and eventually force Americans to leave the region. In return, American forces will likely to unleash indiscriminate and disproportionate fire-power like what they did in Vietnam about five decades ago.
Any glimmer of hope to stop this unstoppable lies in European countries (NOT Russia or China – for they would be happy to watch draining American resources for nothing and diminishing American presence in the region).
